WASHINGTON, D.C (TV-News24) — Osman Hardy Jalloh, an award-winning journalist with TV-News24 in Kenema, eastern Sierra Leone, has been jailed by Magistrate Joseph Toby of The Judiciary of Sierra Leone Wednesday.

He also reports for the Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation — SLBC.

Hardy is a devoted Muslim — and is fasting — but currently jailed at the Kenema Corrections Center.

Prison officers there have refused to accept food prepared and taken to him by a colleague journalist.

SAHN, Pujehun District (TV-News24) — Sierra Leone Ministry of Health and Sanitation has instructed its workers to stop communicating with reporters, a senior health official south of the country says recently.

District Medical Officer for Bonthe district Dr. Prince Masuba, says the health ministry has ordered them to stop disclosing information to members of the press — until they get approval from the ministry’s leadership.

WASHINGTON, D.C. (TV-News24) — The mayor of Freetown, the capital of Sierra Leone, implies Monday that current piles of garbage piled at a busy market area in the center of the city, will be collected later tonight.

Freetown City Council, under the authority of the mayor, is responsible for garbage collection thus, beautifying the city.

WASHINGTON, D.C. (TV-News24) — A man who says he’s the biological father of a 6-year-old girl in western Sierra Leone, refused to take a government scheduled DNA test because he does not trust social workers, he tells TV-News24 exclusively on Friday.

Amarah Sesay was scheduled to take the DNA test on Wednesday with Walter Koroma — the other man who’s also claiming to be the real father of the child.

WASHINGTON, D.C. (TV-News24) — A 6-year-old girl is in the middle of a contested parental battle in Waterloo, Western Rural Area District, Sierra Leone, 20 miles east of the capital Freetown.

Two men are claiming to be biological fathers of the child, and she now carries two different names — given to her by both men.

The child’s biological mother, Adamsay Sesay, is currently marry to Amarah Sesay, one of the men who says he’s the real father.

MAGBURAKA (TV-News24 ) — District COVID-19 Emergency Response Center in Tonkolili district, northern Sierra Leone, arrested many people and fined each of them Le100,000 ($10) last Monday, for not wearing face masks, a government official says.

Tonkolili DICOVERC spokesman Robert Salia Kamara says at least 100 people were arrested, and those who paid the fine were released immediately.

But the ones that didn’t pay were taken and detained at various police stations where the operations were conducted.
